East Alton Police were holding 23 year old Brantley Painter of the 200 block of South Broad in Carlinville for two counts of domestic battery, interfering with the reporting of domestic battery and resisting arrest. Wood River Police were holding 51 year old Billy Gossard of the 500 block of Prospect in Wood River on a violation of an order of protection. 28 year old Lindsay Spears of the 500 block of Tipton in Wood River, held for assault. Marquette To Address Churches Today

Jersey County Crash Injures Girl

A crash on private property in the Fieldon area has sent a girl to St. Louis Children's Hospital. She was airlifted to the hospital by ARCH Helicopter, but her name or condition has not been released. The crash happened around 12:30 yesterday afternoon in the 13000 block of Otter Creek West.[Full Story]
High Speed Rail Talks Continue  This News Story Contains Audio

Construction on the first leg of a high-speed rail track is expected to begin this fall. An Illinois Department of Transportation Spokesperson has said about 90-miles of track should be completed by the end of the year. U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood says he and other officials are still talking to freight railroad companies about arrangements to share tracks.[Full Story]

In March, the Illinois State police announced a partnership with five area counties to create a top ten fugitives list that covers a portion of the Z-1570 listening area. The list is a compilation of the top 2 fugitives from each participating county- Calhoun, Greene, Jersey, Macoupin and Montgomery.[Full Story]

Checking overnight police activity, Alton arrest reports were unavailable due to numerous bookings in progress, many related to activities in the downtown area, according to a jail employee. There was no one new reported lodged in the East Alton and Wood River Jails this morning.[Full Story]

The State Board of Elections Friday upheld a challenge to the Constitution Party but rejected one against the Libertarians. The board generally agreed the Libertarian Party had more than 25,000 valid signatures on its petitions, and the Constitution Party did not. [Full Story]
