Filling up costs a little more these days in Illinois. The latest Triple-A Chicago Fuel Gauge Survey shows a gallon of self-serve regular unleaded gasoline costs an average of $2.88, up ten cents from last month and up 29 cents from last August. The survey’s results range from $2.71 in Champaign County to $3.03 in Cook County.[Full Story]

East Alton Police were holding 33 year old Jason Donohoo of the 200 block of High Pointe in East Alton for resisting arrest. Alton Police report the arrest of a man and woman on the parking lot behind the Honke Building Wednesday afternoon. Authorities arrested 83 year old William Kuehnel of the 3400 block of Greenwood in Godfrey and 22 year old Danyelle Walker of Granite City, after police say they found the woman performing a sexual act on the man.[Full Story]
Storms Cause Damage in Region

A storm that tore through St. Peters, Missouri, yesterday afternoon also did significant damage in North St. Louis. The worst of the damage is in a residential neighborhood along Bircher Avenue. Giant trees were ripped from the ground, some of them crashing down onto residents' cars. And one home is reportedly a total loss.[Full Story]

A downstate Congressman is criticizing the Obama administration and U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin for pulling their support for the FutureGen project in Mattoon. Urbana Republican Congressman Tim Johnson(pictured), who represents Mattoon, says it’s unbelievable the Obama administration and Senator Dick Durbin pulled their support for the FutureGen project in Mattoon. He considers plans to scrap a 1-point-5 billion dollar coal plant in that community "a betrayal."[Full Story]

The Illinois Chamber of Commerce has pledged $100,000 and has promised to raise more money to help Republican Bill Brady get elected governor. The state senator from Bloomington got the business group's endorsement on Wednesday. The 3,500-member group has never endorsed a Democrat for governor. [Full Story]
NEW: Blagojevich Jury Unanimous on Only Two Counts

The jury in the trial of Rod Blagojevich has apparently only reached a verdict on two counts of the 24 federal corruption charges against the former Illinois governor. In a note sent to U.S. District Judge James Zagel, the jury says they haven't been able to agree on any of the other charges filed against him. The jury has also not deliberated the eleven wire fraud charges against Blagojevich either. [Full Story]
NEW: Sanctions Announced in Baseball Brawl

Cincinnati pitcher Johnny Cueto (pictured) will miss seven games for his part in Tuesday's brawl between the Reds and the St. Louis Cardinals at Great American Ball Park. Reds manager Dusty Baker and Cards skipper Tony La Russa were each suspended two games apiece. All three will start serving their suspensions Friday, unless they appeal. [Full Story]
Sewer Inspection Fee Passes

A sewer tap-on inspection fee passed through the Alton City Council without opposition, and apparently with the blessing of the business owner that would be most affected. The Enchanted Village Mobile Home Park rents space to RV owners at the park, many of which are in town to work on the ConocoPhillips expansion project. [Full Story]
