An Illinois Democrat is jumping on board with a Republican idea: imposing term limits for legislators. State Representative Jack Franks filed a measure last week that would place a non-binding question on the ballot during municipal elections next April. If lawmakers approve the bill, voters will be asked if the Speaker of the House and President of the Senate, who've both been in the legislature since the 1970's, should be term limited.
Franks says he's already received support from fellow Democrats.

The measure would also limit majority and minority leaders in both chambers. Other plans floating around Springfield aim to put limits on all lawmakers, not just the leaders.
