Alton Pedestrian/Bicycle Meeting

Story by WBGZ Radio

Alton residents who walk the sidewalks and use the town bike routes are being asked for their opinions on the pedestrian and biking infrastructure in the city. An open house meeting is planned for next Tuesday, September 19th from 5-7 pm, at City Hall, on 3rd Street. All residents are invited to attend the meeting.

Similar surveys have been done recently in Godfrey and Bethalto. Alton Park & Recreation Director Mike Haynes tells The Big Z the idea is to use the information to complete a 10-month-plan to improve routes, connections, and other improvements residents want.

The City of Alton has also created a survey for Altonians to weigh in on how they think biking and walking in town can be improved. The survey, which will run through the end of September, can be found here: http://www.surveymonkey.com/r/AltonWalkBike
