Another Bank Robbery in the Riverbend

Story by WBGZ Radio

Another bank robbery has been reported in the Riverbend. According to multiple sources, the U.S. Bank in the 1,300 block of Edwardsville Road in Wood River was robbed this morning at around 9:20am. A bank employee described the robber as a black male, 5'8", about 190 pounds, wearing a black puffy coat, a yellow surgical mask, and light colored pants.

The suspect was seen leaving the nearby Club Fitness parking lot in a small, red, 4-door car, heading south on Route 111. If you saw the suspect before or after the robbery, you are asked to call Wood River Police at 251-3114. This is the fourth bank robbery in the span of a little more than a month. Robberies in December took place at the Regions Bank location near the railroad viaduct at 347 West Main Street, the Reliance Bank in the 2,800 block of Godfrey Road, which is located across the street from Quick Trip, and on November 29, at the U.S. Bank in Upper Alton on Washington Avenue. No one was injured in any of the incidents, but in each case, the robber got away.
