Police Chief Announces Retirement

Otis StewardThe Wood River Police Chief is retiring. Otis Steward has been with the city for 30 years, but his last day on the job will be February 16th. He is being replaced by Brad Wells, who recently retired from the Madison County Sheriff's Department.

City Manager Jim Schneider - himself a former Police Chief - tells The Big Z Steward accomplished a lot during his time as chief.

Wells has been named acting police chief, and will work alongside Steward for the next week. Steward will take two week's vacation and officially retire March 2nd.
