Three Charged With Forgery

Three East St. Louis residents have been charged with forgery after allegedly passing off forged prescriptions at two North Alton pharmacies. The incidents happened in mid-December, when two of the three successfully obtained prescriptions for Percocet.

Alton Police Department Public Information Officer Emily Hejna tells The Big Z a Walgreens employee suspected the forgery.

Except the doctor on the prescription pad had not written the prescription. Charged are 61-year-old Betty C. Elem and 55-year-old Kevin L. Harris, both of the 1700 block of North 42nd Street, and 52-year-old Lywanda R. Ward of the 500 block of Alexander Place. Ward and Harris are also charged with Unlawful Acquisition of a Controlled Substance. None are in custody.
