The Alton 175th Celebration kicked off on Thursday with the start of Wooden Nickel Week. The promotion organized by the Alton Convention and Visitors Bureau will allow customers to save 10% on food and retail purchases at 25 local restaurants and shops throughout the area by presenting a special wooden nickel at participating establishments.
Alton CVB President, Brett Stawar says it will bring great savings to residents but reminds that there are some limitations.
