An Alton man is in custody, charged with killing a 19-year old Alton man over the weekend. 20-year-old Marcus A. Baldwin (pictured) of the 1,000 block of Alton Pointe is charged with three counts of first degree murder in the shooting death of 19-year-old Dantavier Thompson of the 200 block of Elizabeth Street in Alton Saturday night.
Investigators say Baldwin shot Thompson as he drove by a home in the 1000 block of Tremont Street just before 11pm on Saturday night. One of those shots struck Thompson in the head, resulting in his death. Alton Police Lieutenant Scott Golike says he is not too worried about retaliation.

There had apparently been a number of disturbances in the area in the past month involving rival groups of young men in their late teens and early twentys. Baldwin is being held without bond.
