A female graduate student at the University of Missouri was killed and dozens of others were injured after a double-decker Megabus struck a concrete overpass pillar on Interstate 55 just outside of Litchfield on Thursday afternoon. The victim has been identifed as 25-year old Aditi Avhad of India, who was traveling back to Columbia, Missouri from Chicago. The bus was traveling from Chicago to St. Louis before heading to Kansas City and Columbia. There were 61 passengers on board at the time of the accident.
Authorities say the cause was likely a blown tire but Illinois State Trooper Doug Francis says the investigation is on going.

Five passengers were airlifted from the scene by medical helicopters and 33 others were transported by ambulance to local hospitals. Their conditions are not known at this time.
