Fall Victim's Widow Files Suit

Story by WBGZ Radio

The widow of the man who fell to his death while working at ConAgra in Alton last weekend has filed suit, seeking information.  The wife of 47-year-old Jay VanBuskirk of Edwardsville is seeking documents pertaining to the incident in an attempt to discover who and what caused the accident.  The suit does not seek any monetary damages.

VanBuskirk apparently lost his footing while stepping off a lift last Saturday afternoon, falling about 60 to 70 feet.  He had just ridden a "man-lift" from the 9th floor to the 5th floor break room when he appeared to have lost his footing and then fell to his death.  Alton Police say foul play is not suspected and all indications point to an industrial accident.  He died at the scene.
