Another Hearing on Golf Course Project

Story by WBGZ Radio

More than 50 residents of the community surrounding the assumed future site of the Alton multimodal transportation facility attended the first of two hearings last week to ask questions and state their positions.  The second in a series of public hearings to discuss the potential redevelopment of the former Wadlow Municipal Golf Course will be held later today as the Alton Plan Commission continues the listening process as the city considers transforming the 55-acre site into a multi-modal transportation center.

Issues last week ranged from security to noise, to litter and how the design of the station would fit with the surrounding community.  Phil Roggio, Director of Development and Housing:

Roggio comments

He reminds there will be many more of these meetings before this project comes to fruition.  The proposed development will include the train and bus station, and limited commercial and residential development.  Tonight's meeting begins at 6:30.
