New Indictment in Overdose Death

Story by WBGZ Radio

A Caseyville man has been indicted by a Madison County Grand Jury in the overdose death of a woman earlier this year.   33 year old Brian Perry has been charged with drug inducted homicide in connection with the death of 49 year old Gail Trexler inside her Maryville apartment on January 1.

The Madison County State's Attorney's Office announced the indictment and charges saying Petty delivered the heroin that killed Trexler by an overdose.  Maryville Police and Illinois State Police conducted the investigation, and allege Perry personally injected the drug that killed Trexler.  The charge is a Class X felony, punishable by 6-30 years in jail if found guilty.  The arrest is part of an ongoing effort by county and federal prosecutors to go after those who are supplying heroin to victims who overdose, and in a growing number die from the drug.
