Chief Settling in to New Job

Alton Fire Chief Bernie Sebold is settling in to his new role.  After being appointed to the post earlier this year, Sebold continues to stress continued training for firefighters and looks for ways to keep residents safe.  The department is currently in the middle of the "Help Us Find You" program, and Chief Sebold also hopes residents will take advantage of safety classes offered through the department.

The "Help Us Find You" program is an effort to make sure every residence and business in the city has a numbered address on the outside of the structure in order for emergency responders to find them as quickly as possible in an emergency.   Sebold says in his 17 years with the department, two of the greatest advances in technology have been the thermal imaging cameras and the automated external defibrillator, or AED:
