Tomorrow will mark end the end of Randy Mortland's term as Fire Chief at the East Alton Fire Department. Mortland will retire following his final shift Monday, ending a 35 year career. His retirement will become official on November 1st.
Mortland began working with the department in 1977 and worked his way through the ranks before serving the last six years of his career as chief. Captain Randy Nelson will be sworn in as the village's new fire chief at the conclusion of Mortland's shift on Monday.
