Route 140 Project Wraps Up

Story by WBGZ Radio

The Illinois Department of Transportation has finished work on the $5.4 million project repairing the pavement and resurfacing Illinois Route 140 from Annex Street near the Wadlow Statue in Upper Alton all the way to Williams Street in Bethalto, near the Illinois 255 interchange.  The 4.2 mile stretch of highly-traveled road was patched numerous times over the years, but the time came this spring to embark on a complete repave.

IDOT Field Engineer Joe Gasaway says the work ended ahead of schedule.

Gasaway comments

Periodic lane closures snarled traffic during parts of the project, but work wrapped up about a month ahead of the November 30 target schedule.  Gasaway credits that to the dry weather.
