Fixing up the cabins in the Camp Ouatoga area of Pere Marquette State Park will continue this year, as the local Sierra Club is teaming up with the Lost Weekend group to provide the manpower to renovate the aging structures. Many have been around for 8 decades - a result of a work stimulus program coming out of the Great Depression under the auspices of the Civilian Conservation Corps.
With state funding for parks at a premium, the need for outside groups to take on the renovations is evident to the Sierra Club's Virginia Woulfe - Beile. She says they had their first work day in October.

There is more work to be done. A planning meeting this week put together a plan to fix up more cabins at Camp Ouatoga. If you would like to learn more about the project, call the Sierra Club office in Alton at 462-6802.
