S. Illinois Digging Out From Blizzard

Story by WBGZ Radio

Southern Illinois is digging out from yesterday's major winter snow storm.  A foot-and-a-half of snow fell yesterday in some parts of southern Illinois where most roads going through its small towns proved impassable.  The National Weather Service office in Paducah, Kentucky issued its first blizzard warning, since the weather office opened in 1991, for an area which includes parts of southern Illinois.

Marion picked up 14.5 inches, with 8 inches in Carbondale and Anna.  While there were just 3 inches on the ground in Metropolis, there were 18.3 inches of snow in Albion, a town in Franklin County.   Another round of light snow is expected across the southern third of the state tomorrow.
