There are changes coming to the baseball diamond at Alton Middle School, thanks to a grant that was recently awarded by the Baseball Tomorrow Fund. More than $63,000 is on the way, after Brett Huff, head baseball coach at the school, found the grant through an Internet search, applied for it, and eventually got word that the project was approved.
And obviously, the grant was accepted. Now, he says they are waiting on the check to arrive. The money will provide funding to renovate the “upper field” at Alton Middle School and support community softball and baseball programs. The grant funding will be used to assist in the construction of two dugouts, fencing, a backstop and a new playing surface.
