Gertrude Gulotta, 106, passed away 5:12 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton.
Born January 13, 1911 in Yount (Perry County), MO, she was the daughter of August and Irene Elizabeth (Robinson) Geile.
A self-employed beautician for over 40 years, she had been a member of the t. Ann Alter Society, a charter member of the Daughters of Isabelle at Holy Angels (St. Bernard) Catholic Church, and senior citizens club in both Wood River and East Alton.
On April 22, 1933 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Wood River, she married Sam B. Gulotta. He December 20, 1991.
Surviving are a son and his wife, Samuel A. and Joan Gulotta of Godfrey; six grandchildren, Dr. Ronald (Ruth) Gulotta, Richard Gulotta, Maria (Dr. James) Gutmann, Jennifer (Doug) Bonner, Dawn (Craig) Bradley, Kristen (Scott) Norris; 12 great grandchildren, Sarah and Joey Gulotta, Zach, Andy, Emily, Katie Gutmann, Braydon and Justin Bonner, Tyler Bradley, Payton (Bryce) Baraby, Josh and Kennedy Hymes; daughter-in-law, Linda of Bradenton, FL; and special friend, Barbara Jean Flanagan.
Her parents; husband; son, Richard Gulotta; brother, Lawrence Geile; three sisters, Edna Tucker, Pearl Stortz, Stella Ruch; and six siblings in infancy preceded in death.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River. A prayer service will begin at 3:50 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Wood River. Father Donald Wolford will officiate.
Burial will follow in Woodland Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to Masses.
