Marjorie Alice Watson, 86, entered into rest with her Lord & Savior at 5:40 p.m., on Thursday,February 23, 2012 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on March 20, 1925 in Kane, Il., one of six children born to the late Charles & Velma (Bramlett) Davis. She was orphaned at the age of seven, and was raised by her paternal grandparents, Riley & Emma Davis.
She married Robert L. Watson of Grafton on March 2, 1946 in Jerseyville and they have shared 65 wonderful years together, and spent many winters in Florida.
She had worked at the International Shoe Factory in Jerseyville and was a cook at the Grafton Grade School. She was a past worthy matron of the Order of the Eastern Star and member of the Grafton United Methodist Church. She took great pride in her home and raising her family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Donna Box of Grafton; a son & daughter in law, Ron & Vicki Watson of Godfrey; her grandchildren & their spouses, Heather (Watson) and Gary Pinter of Godfrey, Jim & Christine Box of Aston, Pa., Robert Box of Troy, Josh Watson of Maryland Heights, Mo., and Jacob Watson, stationed with the U.S. Marine Corps in Japan; her great grandchildren, Matthew Box, Collin Pinter, Nila Rose Laffey; and two sisters, Alma Cooper of Moro and Dorothy Loy of Jerseyville; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy King; and two brothers, Billy Charles Davis, killed in action serving with the U.S. Navy during World War II and Marvin Davis.
Private graveside services will be held at the Hartford Cemetery in rural Grafton.
