Joseph E. Bartholomew, age 66, passed away at 6:20 pm Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Alton Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.

He was born on August 31, 1945 in Alton, the son of Robert E. and Wilma V. (Cousert) Bartholomew.

He married Diana Hill October 4, 1997 in East Alton and she survives.

Joe was a member of the First United Methodist Church in East Alton. He was a hard working man who was devoted to his family and friends. Joe was a member of the Madison County Association of the Alton Area Blind Bowlers.

Joe is survived by his wife Diana, one sister Barbara (Lou) Jett of Bethalto, one brother Charles (Lillian) Bartholomew of Greenfield, MA, one brother-in-law Billy Hill of Alton, and numerous Nieces and Nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be Sunday June 24, 2012 from 2 to 6 pm at Elias Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton. Funeral Service will be Monday June 25, 2012 at 10 am at the First United Methodist Church in East Alton with Rev. Dan Powers officiating.

Burial will follow at Upper Alton Cemetery.
