Lilly Marie Honey, 77, formerly of Kane, died at 8:05 a.m., Thursday, July 5, 2012 at her residence. She was born in Eldred on June 7, 1935, one of five children born to the late Raymond James and Irene (Reynolds) Flatt.
Lilly graduated in 1952 from Hardin High School, and was employed in the health care industry for many years, serving as a LPN at various nursing homes, including Greenwood Manor Nursing Home in Jerseyville. She married James Roy Honey on June 21, 1953 at the Salvation Army Chapel in Alton, and together they shared nearly 52 years together before his death on Jan. 20, 2005.
Surviving are a son & daughter in law, Andy & Edna Honey of Oklahoma City, Ok.; five daughters & sons in law, Susan M. & Joseph Neil Tate of Springfield, Neva R. & Paul M. Noble of Dow, Barbara E. & Eddie T. Sallee of Francis, Ok., Kathleen A. & Alejandro Ramirez of Dayton, Or., Edith I. Honey of Hamburg; a daughter in law, Patty Honey of Peoria; 20 Grandchildren; 44 Great Grandchildren; two sisters, Alma Schaaf of Fieldon and Mildred Galore of Rosedale; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Roy Honey on May 27, 1990; a brother, James Flatt; and a sister, Florence Halemeyer.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m., Tuesday until time of funeral services at 7 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, with the Rev. Gary Goode officiating.
According to her wishes, she will be cremated after the services and a private burial will take place at the Witt Cemetery in Rockbridge at a later date.
Memorials may be given to her family in care of Crawford Funeral Home.
