Howard D. Weaver, 87, passed away at 10:55 pm, Monday, July 16, 2012 at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton, IL with his family by his side.
He was born in Hamburg, IL on September 27, 1924, the son of the late Joseph D. Weaver and Mary Elizabeth (Mielke) Weaver.
On April 23, 1943 he married Beatrice (Neese) Weaver in Bowling Green, MO.
Howard was a Furnace Operator for Leclede Steel for 42 years until he retired in 1984. He was a member of Brighton Church of Christ. He was in the Air Force from 1943 to 1945. He served in the 15th Air Force in Italy for 20 months. He enjoyed traveling all over the U.S. and camping. As an amateur pilot, he loved to fly airplanes but his favorite past time was spending time with his family, friends, and especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by two sons, Larry Weaver and his partner Starlet Weaver of Jerseyville, IL, and Garry (Sue) Weaver of Alton, IL; one brother, Robert (Margaret) Weaver of Banks, Oregon; four sisters, Dorothy Swearingin of Jerseyville, IL, Mary Werts of Jerseyville, Viola Randall of Seattle, Washington, Mildred (Sam) Steward of Godfrey, IL; two grandchildren, John and David (Chelsey) Weaver; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, William Weaver; two infant daughters, Sharon Sue Weaver and Linda Marie Weaver, and one infant son, Terry Weaver.
Visitation will be from 4 pm to 7 pm, Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey, IL.
Visitation will continue at 10 am, Friday, July 20, 2012 at Indian Creek Church of Christ in Hamburg, IL until time of service at 11 am with Pastors Patrick Harper and Mark Turok officiating.
Burial will follow at Indian Creek Cemetery in Hamburg, IL.
