The American Legion baseball tournaments wrap up today. Locally, in the Firecracker Classic, Alton beat Hamilton on Sunday 7-6, and last night topped Pekin 11-2, finishing the tournament with a 3-1 mark, and improving its record to 12-10 on the season. Also on Sunday, Belleville beat Texarkana 4-3 and shutout St. Charles 4-0. FairviewHeights lost to Jefferson City 3-0, and fell to Eagen 4-3.
The Classic will conclude today at Whitey Herzog Field in Belleville, with Jefferson City taking on Belleville in one semi final, and West O’Fallon playing Eagan (MN) in the other game. The final will be held at 3:30pm.
The Tournament of Champions will wrap up today in Bethalto, with the semi final games at 10am and 2pm at the Sports Complex and the championship game at 4pm today.
