Holliday, Westbrook Lead Cards Past Phillies, Rubbermatch Today

Matt Holliday launched his 22nd home run of the season while Jake Westbrook hurled 7 and 2/3 innings of one-run ball as the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Philadelphia Phillies 4-1 last night in Philadelphia. Holliday added a single in the eighth inning and finished the night 3 for 5 with 3 RBI. That was more than enough offense for Westbrook, as he induced 16 ground ball outs and struck out three Phillies on the way to his 12th victory of the season. Jason Motte nailed down his 26th save. Phllies starter Cliff Lee falls to 2-7 after allowing four runs in 7 innings of work.

Lance Lynn will look to win his 14th game of the season as the Cards and Phillies play the rubbermatch of their three game set this afternoon. The Phillies will counter with Vance Worley. The first pitch is scheduled for 12:35.
