Edwardsville's Emily Flaughter shot a 1-over par, 73, to claim the individual title at the Marquette Catholic Girls Golf Blast-Off at the Lockhaven Country Club on Saturday afternoon. The junior's scores of 37 and 36 were also good enough to help her team finish fourth overall. Springfield Sacred Heart Griffin posted the best score as a team,dethroning the reigning champion, Normal University High. Normal finished second, Rochester, and Quincy Notre Dame round out the top five. The Alton Redbirds finished 7th and the host Explorers finished 8th in the 16-team field.
In Boys Golf, The host Quincy Blue Devils won the team title at the Quincy Invitational Saturday. The Edwardsville Tigers finished second, while the Alton Redbirds ended the tournament in 7th place.
