Marquette edged Alton, 51-to-50 in boys basketball Friday night at the Jerseyville hoops tournament. The Explorers got a game high 18 points from Jake Coddington while Deion Lavender added 13. Alton was led by Tyrome Parker’s 16 points while Carlos Anderson chipped in with 12.
Marquette now stands at 13-and-6 while Alton High slips to 10-and-11. Both teams will play again tonight in the Jersey Tourney here on Z-1570. Alton battles Cahokia at 6 pm – followed by Marquette against Jerseyville at 7:30 pm.
