Rookie Vladimir Tarasenko made his NHL debut a memorable one by netting a pair of goals at Scottrade Center last night as the Blues blanked the Detroit Red Wings 6-0. Chris Stewart also scored twice in the win. T.J. Ohsie and Patrik Burglund also lit the lamp for the Blues in the season opener. Goaltender Jaroslav Halak also did his part last night, stopped all 14 shots he faced to earn his 23rd career shutout.
